Tough Mudder Race Day 2012 – Everything You Need to Know

We are less than a week away from Tough Mudder Race Day!  You either feeling confident that you have done enough training or a little fearful that you have not. Either way the final test will come Saturday, May 19th at 12:40 p.m.  Thats right you should have received an email from Tough Mudder with race  start times, waivers and any other information you might care to know.  Please read it!  There is a lot of important information in there that email.  I will highlight a few important things you should know.

It is gonna be hot! 80-ish  start drinking water now.  You are gonna need to drink more water and sleep more.  You can read more about that here: Tough Mudder Training Tips: More Water

We will be meeting at Cornerstone Church at 7:00 a.m. We will be taking 2 vehicles so we have enough man room and baggage.  There will not be an extra charge for gas.  The trip will take about 3 hours. I am guessing we will get home between 9:00 p.m. -11:00 p.m.

Baggage & What to Bring / Wear

  1. Death Wavier: Print it and sign it.  If you don’t have it you cannot come!  Download it here: Death Wavier
  2. Photo ID:  You must have it to run the race. Otherwise you paid a lot of money to be a spectator.  We can put valuables in our drop bag: read about it here.
  3. Cash:  We will be stopping for a big meal on the way back. (Ruby Tuesdays in Stillwater)  Bring some snacks for the trip up there.  Also there will be Tough Mudder crap to buy  and a bunch of food booths at the event.
  4. Change of Clothes:  Bring a change of clothes.  I don’t want to smell your nastiness on the way back home.  Also, you will have a chance to take a shower (fire hose) after the race.  Also, remember extra shoes, deodorant and skivvies.
  5. Misc. Equipment:  Sunscreen, gloves, hat, camel back (only 5 water stations over 13 miles), Athletic tape, gel packs, protein bars..etc if you need fuel. (20 0z Coke for Cory “coke pointz” Goetz)
  6. Team Apparel:  Wear your Team Uppercut Shirt, Black Shorts, Compression shorts/tights (keep your boys safe), sweat band/hat (if desired), Shoes (no cleats).

Misc. Info

  • There will be over 11,000 people running on Saturday alone.  There will be 9,000 participants running before us.  Be prepared for a slick muddy course.
  • Average time to run the race is 3-4 hours.  Course Sweep: At 4:00 PM, all participants who have not reached the ½ way mark will be escorted off the course by the First-Aid team.”  So you have 3 hours and 40 minutes to make it 6.5 miles.  But I am hoping it only takes that long if one of us has broken both their legs.
  • You will be electrocuted: Electroshock Therapy and Electric Eel do conduct a shock of 10,000 volts: Please be advised that these obstacles are dangerous if you have certain health conditions, epilepsy, or a pacemaker.”  Enough said.
  • Military People:  Bring your military ID otherwise it is going to cost you an extra $60.
